“Walkin’ On The Sea Of Glass” is Spiritual about being gathered home to God at the second coming of Christ. Filled with dialogue, encouragement, prayer, and finally describing what it will be like to gather with Jesus on the sea of glass in heaven (Revelation 15:2-4), the excitement builds to a climactic section proclaiming “It’s Jesus”, which the believers might exclaim when they see Jesus coming again. This has been one of my most popular pieces with choirs at the University and High School levels. If you need an exciting and rhythmic piece in a program, this well may be the piece you need.

Text (by Michael Sandvik)
Lord when we get to heaven
we’re gonna see our Savior there,
In a place where there will be no sin,
His glory we will share.
Our songs of praise go ’round and ’round
because we see our Lord at last,
the Lord takes us off heaven’s ground,
to go walkin’ on the sea of glass.
Lord we’re pilgrims, we want to see Jesus,
walkin’ on the sea of glass.
We want to walk with Him,
we want to talk with Him,
we want to sing to Him by the shore,
because our Savior we adore.
When we see our Lord at last,
we’ll go walkin’ on the sea of glass.
Preach, preach my sister,
tell me all about the gospel Man.
It’s Jesus, He came to the earth to end all strife.
It’s Jesus, He died and rose to give us life!
Preach, preach my brother,
tell me all about the heavenly story.
Sister, I’ll tell you all about the heavenly story,
heaven is a place way up in glory.
It’s Jesus. Yes Jesus is a waitin’ for you and me.
It’s Jesus, we’re gonna walk with Jesus down on the sea.
My Lord. My Jesus, Lord. Oh my Jesus. My Lord, oh yes my Lord.
It’s Jesus. The pilgrim’s journey is almost over.
Oh my Lord, it’s Jesus, we’re gonna go a walkin’ o’er the sea.
Lord we’re pilgrims, we want to see Jesus,
walkin’ on the sea of glass.
We want to walk with Him,
we want to talk with Him,
we want to sing to Him by the shore,
because our Savior we adore.
When we see our Lord at last,
we’ll go walkin’ on the sea of glass.
-to God alone all glory is given-
